Deepen Shah CTO / Co-Founder

Deepen Shah is our resident technology scientist. He spent his early days within the hacking and computer security community, gaining experience with many development languages and open source architectures. While a college student at New York University, Deepen built an application that text messaged him when a class became available during course registration to get into the classes he really wanted to take. Following this feat, he became interested in expanding this concept of alerts and his first successful venture, eztxtmsg became a reality.

Acquired by ipsh! in 2003, eZtext became one of the first ever mobile self-service applications that allowed small to medium sized businesses to send out text message alerts containing product sales, patient reminders, dj / club promotions, and more. With the backing of a major marketing agency, eztxtmsg grew from a few hundred businesses to thousands in a matter of months. At eztxtmsg, Deepen managed technology teams over-seas and pushed agile Web 2.0 development with platforms such as Ruby on Rails, PHP, and Django.

Having recently graduated from the Stern School of Business at NYU in Information Systems and Finance, he looks towards the future in combining his experience in mobile, business, and technology to create the first truly sticky social platform on the mobile phone.

Deepen's other talents include beatboxing, playing the tenor sax, and chugging Red Bull. top | team

Glen Nigel Straub Marketing Manager

We like to consider Glen our Marketing Rockstar. Born and bred in Brooklyn, he thrives on the energy of the concrete jungle. He joined us with a zest for urban culture, words, live music, and most importantly giving people cool free stuff if they use buzzd, of course.

Glen has worked for Conde Nast Publications and has contributed nightlife-related articles to Spin, Metromix and Sheckys. He's passionate about the dreadful New York Knickerbockers (in 7th grade, he shaved "Knicks" into his hair) and can also tell you the ins and outs of the paw-shaped mittens business.

His skills include: nigelsounds, an encyclopedic knowledge of reggae and bringin' more fyah (fire).

He wears many hats at buzzd, and is an active member of the New York Tech community.

Hailing from Dallas, Texas, he loves skiing the slopes in his vacation time. top | team

Olu's job is to ensure your experience with buzzd is as bug free as possible. He is also in charge of the completion, release and ongoing operations of all of the buzzd consumer products. As our senior consultant on bugs, Olu brings 4+ years of programming knowledge and problem-solving to the table. On any given day, he can be found pouring over the system finding new ways to break (and fix) our various products.

Olu is also the official buzzd chessmaster, official ping pong player and chief chocolate cookie expert. top | team

Brian McConnell UX

Brian McConnell has been refining the online experience since spinning logos and welcome pages were the standard. Outside buzzd Brian can be found underwater exploring reefs & wrecks, at a techno warehouse party, volunteering at the neighborhood CSA, or cursing the Mets dreadful defense. top | team
