Aaron Levie Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer
Aaron Levie is the CEO and co-founder of Box.net, which he originally created as a college business project with the goal of helping people easily access their information from any location. Box.net was launched from Aaron's dorm room in 2005 with the help of CFO Dylan Smith. He is the visionary behind Box's product and platform strategy, which is focused on incorporating the best of traditional content management with the most effective elements of social business software. He has spoken about content and collaboration tools at events such as Accenture Global Summit, South by Southwest, and Svase.
Other than spending most of his free time passionately debating the next step for Box with his CFO, Aaron enjoys pretending he can play the piano. He studied business at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California before taking a leave of absence.
Dylan Smith Co-founder & Chief Financial Officer
Dylan Smith is Chief Financial Officer and co-founder of Box.net, where he leads finance, legal and operations management. He has been instrumental in Box.net's growth and development since starting the company with co-founder Aaron Levie while in college.
Dylan enjoys learning new things in Microsoft Excel on a daily basis and is always up for a rousing argument with his CEO. He is also a Wiffle Ball enthusiast and an aspiring chef. Dylan received a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University.
Sam Ghods Vice President of Engineering

Sam Ghods is the Vice President of Engineering Technology at Box.net, where he manages the engineering team and oversees the design and architecture of Box.net's website. application and technology stack. Prior to joining Box.net, Sam was a developer at essembly.com, which is now part of Project Agape. Before essembly.com, Sam was the lead developer at zexsports.com, where he was responsible for development, server management, and architecture.
Sam is a classically trained violinist who began playing at the age of five. He has played with the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras, the largest youth symphony organization in the United States, and studied at the Seattle Conservatory of Music. He attended the University of Southern California, where he studied computer engineering and computer science for two years before joining Box.net in 2006.

Jeff Queisser Vice President of Technical Operations
Jeff Queisser is the Vice President of Technical Operations at Box.net, where he is responsible for Box.net's core technology, architecture and infrastructure. He manages the systems, storage, and data center operations of Box.net. Jeff became interested in computer programming at a young age, selling his first software at the age of ten, and later formed Q-Squared, a successful IT consulting company based in Seattle.
Jeff celebrates geekiness of all forms, and reads technical manuals just for fun. He enjoys Nietzsche and is a beginning robot builder. Jeff attended Western Washington University for a year and a half before joining Box.net in 2006.
Karen Appleton Vice President of Business Development
Karen Appleton is the Vice President of Business Development at Box.net, where she is responsible for driving Box.net's high growth initiatives. She initiates, evaluates, and structures new business opportunities, including strategic alliances and partnerships.
Prior to Box.net, Karen was Vice President of Development and a member of the executive team at Prosper Marketplace and was responsible for a full range of growth activity, including acquisition and retention and the development of ecosystem-based partnerships and alliances. Before Prosper, Karen was responsible for marketing, new client relationships, and growth initiatives for the largest private wealth management team at Citigroup/Smith Barney. As Director of Business Development at Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP, she built a team that worked to grow revenues and broaden existing and prospective client relationships. She also served as National Marketing Director for the corporate group at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, LLP. At Lexis-Nexis, she launched the firm's internet product, managed top-tier accounts, and ran business development for the state of Hawaii.
Karen loves hanging out with her two boys and taking them on adventures to faraway lands. An avid enthusiast of diving, hiking, and photography, Karen is also a lacrosse mom (and part-time coach!). She earned a master's degree in organizational development from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in international business from Towson University. She holds an advisory board seat with The Forum for Women Entrepreneurs & Executives and serves on the Board of Directors for SV2.
Jim Herbold Vice President of Sales and Enterprise General Manager
Jim Herbold serves as Box.net's VP of Sales and Enterprise General Manager, where he is responsible for managing the sales, product development, and marketing of the Business edition.
Jim has more than 15 years of experience in sales and operations. He joined Box.net from EmailLabs, acquired by Lyris, where as General Manager he was responsible for all facets of the business. Jim also held a variety of sales roles at EmailLabs, and in four years grew revenues by more than 700% while maintaining a profit margin in excess of 30% each year. Prior to EmailLabs, Jim held a variety of sales and operations roles at AboveNet Communications, National Computer Board (Singapore), Centennial Communications, and MCI Telecommunications.
Jim has been an active traveler over the years and enjoys camping with his family at his gold claim in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. He holds a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College.
Jen Grant Vice President of Marketing
Jen Grant is the Vice President of Marketing at Box.net, where she is responsible for leading brand strategy, sales marketing, public relations, and product marketing.
Prior to Box.net, Jen spent four years at Google where she was head of marketing for the Apps team responsible for marketing Gmail, Calendar, Talk, Blogger, Reader, Picasa, Orkut, and OpenSocial. In addition, she built out the Google Apps Education Edition marketing team to support sales to CIOs at universities and reach out directly to students. Earlier, Jen developed the marketing, education, and outreach strategy for Google Book Search and led the marketing team in successfully swaying public opinion and improving relations with publishers. In 2007, she received a Google Founders Award - the most prestigious award offered at Google. Prior to Google, Jen was a Product Manager at Stata Labs, which was acquired by Yahoo in 2004, Director of Marketing at Thin Multimedia and a co-founder at DealMaven, which was acquired by FactSet.
Most of Jen's free time is spent chasing her twin girls around the house and curling up with her son to eat cookies and watch Ben 10. She received her MBA from Wharton and earned her bachelor's degree from Princeton.
David Lee Director of Product Management
David Lee is the Director of Product Management at Box.net, where he is responsible for driving Box's product strategy.
Prior to Box.net, David spent three years at Yahoo's Display Advertising team. As Yahoo's lead product manager for video advertising, he launched new ad offerings that improved the performance of video ad campaigns on Yahoo by an average of 300% and implemented a partnership deal with Comcast. Before Yahoo, David held a variety of positions at WebEx, from UI design to product management. As product manager, he was responsible for rolling out WebEx's MeetMeNow service, a solution targeted at the SMB segment. Early in his career, David worked as a systems engineer at Boeing's Commercial Aircraft division.
In his spare time, David enjoys snowboarding and collecting turn-of-the-century antiques. David earned his MBA from Haas School of Business at University of California, and received a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from University of Southern California.
Ron Gross Director of Support
Ron Gross is the Director of Support at Box.net, where he is responsible for driving Box's overall customer support strategy.
Prior to Box.net Ron spent six years at Excite where he was one of the first employees and founded the Customer Support and Engineering QA departments for the Excite portal and other offerings. After this Ron founded and developed the support departments for internet start-ups Friendster and later BitTorrent.
Outside of the office Ron does not get much sleep. He has four kids and is an amateur chef and astronomer. Ron works nights as a volunteer operating the observatory at Foothill College. He also holds a leadership role with the Trailblazers youth-outdoors program at the NW-YMCA. Ron received his bachelor's degree in Business/MIS from San Jose State University.
Greg Strickland Director of Finance and Administration
Greg Strickland is the Director of Finance and Administration at Box.net, where he is responsible for financial analysis, accounting, human resources, operations, strategic initiatives and assisting with fundraising.
Prior to Box.net, Greg spent several years helping build the first national wine bar chain as Interim-CFO and Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis. He was responsible for site selection analytics, corporate human resources, financing, liquor license procurement, accounting and strategic initiatives. Greg is a self-proclaimed start-up junkie, and Box.net represents his 5th venture.
In his spare time, Greg enjoys challenging his brain with puzzles and beating seniors on the bocce ball court. In addition to spending time with his nieces and nephews, Greg enjoys learning new languages and is currently studying Vietnamese and Italian. He received his Bachelors from the University of California at Berkeley.

Prior to joining DFJ, Josh was a Vice President at Telephia, where he managed a group providing strategic analysis and information to the nation's largest wireless carrier. Previously, Josh was a co-founder, Director and the Chief Strategy Officer for ViaFone (NYSE:SY), a DFJ portfolio company and a leading provider of wireless enterprise applications. Josh has previously held positions in product management at Microsoft and NetObjects, and was a management consultant in the San Francisco office of The Boston Consulting Group.
Josh holds a BA from Dartmouth College, an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and is a graduate of the Kauffman Fellows Program. He currently serves on the board of directors of the Center for Venture Education and the Kauffman Fellows Program, the leading educational fellowship in venture capital.
Mamoon Hamid Principal, U.S. Venture Partners
Mamoon joined USVP in 2005 and is a Principal at the firm. At USVP, he focuses on Cleantech investments which leverage advances in information technology, and traditional areas of IT investments.
Mamoon led USVP's investment in Box.net and serves on the company's Board. He is also involved with USVP portfolio companies CFX Battery, Optichron, and Supplyframe. He has also been an advisor to Yelp since its inception.
Prior to joining USVP, Mamoon spent eight years in the semiconductor industry at Xilinx (XLNX), in various engineering and senior marketing roles. He was responsible for defining and implementing sales and marketing strategies that grew the company's consumer electronics and automotive market segment revenues five-fold to $100 million in a span of three years. Previously, Mamoon also worked for Deutsche Bank.
Mamoon holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, an MS in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is also a graduate of the Kauffman Fellows Program.
A native of Pakistan, Mamoon spent the early part of his life in Frankfurt, Germany. He is multi-lingual in German, Urdu and Hindi.
